Our WordPress migration Process
Audit
Our team will conduct a thorough review of your current CMS. To do this, we will need access to your existing system. Based on our assessment, we will provide feedback and recommendations to guide your migration. A common question we receive is whether it is easier to rebuild or start from scratch. We’ll address this by evaluating your current setup and determining the most efficient approach for your needs.
Planning
Each CMS is unique, with differences in how content updates, media, and documents are managed. If you’re already familiar with WordPress, you know that it offers extensive options for customization through plugins and themes. For example, you can use Elementor for design, Yoast for SEO, and Contact Form 7 for forms, along with thousands of themes to choose from.
One of WordPress’s greatest advantages is its flexibility. You can create everything from straightforward setups to highly advanced custom workflows tailored to your business needs. This level of customization ensures that your CMS can evolve alongside your business, providing a solution that fits perfectly.
Migration
At this stage, it’s time to let our team handle the details. Throughout the migration process, our team will keep you informed at every step, ensuring you’re always up to date on the progress of the project. Should any delays or issues arise, our project manager will promptly notify you. Rest assured, we’re dedicated to making your migration as smooth and seamless as possible.
Pre-Launch Testing
Pre-launch testing is a critical phase in ensuring the success of your WordPress site before it goes live. This stage involves thorough checks to verify that all functionalities, design elements, and integrations are working as intended. Key aspects include testing site performance, browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, security vulnerabilities, and ensuring that content is properly displayed. Additionally, this is the time to review SEO settings, conduct usability testing, and confirm that all forms, links, and navigation paths function correctly. The goal is to identify and fix any issues that could negatively impact user experience or site performance post-launch.
Launch Day
Launch day is when your new WordPress site goes public. One crucial step is making DNS changes, which your IT team will handle. Once the DNS changes are made, there may be a brief delay before they take effect – this is known as DNS propagation. To minimize this delay, we recommend setting the TTL (Time to Live) to 600 seconds (10 minutes).
This adjustment can help ensure that your DNS records update more quickly across the internet. However, it’s important to balance speed and performance. While a lower TTL can accelerate propagation, it may also increase the load on your DNS servers due to more frequent queries. Finding the right balance is key to ensuring a smooth transition.
Special Requirements
If you’ve requested a Content Delivery Network (CDN) or Web Application Firewall (WAF), please note that your DNS setup may require CNAME flattening. Not all DNS providers offer this service.
Post-Launch Testing
Once your site is live, post-launch testing ensures everything continues to run smoothly in a live environment. This stage involves monitoring site performance, checking for any issues that may have been missed during pre-launch, and validating that the site behaves as expected under real-world conditions. This includes testing load times, verifying analytics setup, checking that emails and notifications are functioning, and ensuring that any third-party integrations are working seamlessly. Post-launch testing also provides an opportunity to gather user feedback and make adjustments as needed to optimize the site for your audience.
